A certificate of insurance naming you can be issued before work starts. Ask for it — with any contractor, not just us — and confirm the policy is current on the certificate itself rather than taking it verbally.
How to verify any Idaho contractor
- 1Ask for the registration number in writing and search it on the state's public licence lookup.
- 2Ask for a certificate of insurance issued to you, not a photocopy of an old one.
- 3Check that the business name on the registration matches the name on your estimate and invoices.
- 4Confirm who is pulling the permit for work that requires one — it should be the contractor, not you.
